Резюме: This paper maintains that deindustrialization is primarily a feature of successful economic development and that North-South trade has very little to do with it. Over the past 25 years, the share of employment accounted for by manufacturing has fallen dramatically in the world's most advanced economies, a phenomenon widely referred to as "deindustrialization."Many see deindustrialization as widening income inequalities and causing a sharp rise in unemployment. This paper argues that, contrary to popular perception, deindustrialization should not be regarded as alarming, but rather as a natural consequence of continued economic growth within the advanced economies.
