The dissertation is dedicated to the female deities Gaia, Dione and Themis in the two most famous and influential ancient Greek oracles Delphi and Dodona. It is a comparative study between the two oracle centers and their development, as well as of the similar trends in their religious activity with an emphasis on the parallel changes, which had taken place as a result of their transformation into religious centers of the Delphic Amphictyony and respectively of the Molossian koinon, and especially on their association with the cult of Gaia, Dione and Themis. The research of the figures of the three goddesses and their cult is done in terms of their prophetic character and their role in Delphi and Dodona, and is based on a complex analysis of all known information from historical, archaeological and epigraphic evidence along with the texts of the ancient authors, also involving some examples from the field of linguistics. It is an attempt to clarify the reasons and the circumstances surrounding their "arrival" in Delphi and Dodona, their function there, as well was the consequent changes of their own character in Greek tradition.
