Dissertation work "The Book as Media for Manipulating the Time" aims to examine the connection between the book and the time, to prove its active nature as a mediator in the attempts to manipulate time using methodology of book-knowledge, media-knowledge and philosophy. Based on theoretical ground that book is the first mass media and also each communication can be viewed as a kind of manipulation, the author proves the thesis that book as a media has functionality to manipulate the perception of time by the individuals. One of the strongest feature is the durability of its messages, transforming the book "de facto" as an environment, time - media. The study gives major media projection over the mechanisms for manipulating the time in other "reality media", which information value is short-term and determines smaller time-frame. In our human history the nature of doctrines - religious, scientific, political and others places the book as a tool to manipulate public consciousness and conduct general concepts over the past and future. Intentions for time control extrapolate over books as a memory holder media, limiting to the ambitions to control over the written word. The book as written media is the most effective tool for manipulating the historical, social and psychological time. Through it, is easy to perform ad hoc uses of the word, as well as replacement of time interpretations due to inconvenience and outdated messages.
