In the Middle Ages primarily were copied texts with religious content and this has a decisive influence on the artistic layout of the manuscripts. The decoration on the Byzantine book is meant to structure the primary and secondary parts of the text. The gradual development of the principle of orderliness and aesthetic combination of separate components - textual and intextual gives rise to a type models in the decoration during the second half of IX and X Centuries throughout, which were used without substantial changes in the next centuries. In the study for type model is meant a hierarchical system for segmentation of the text by the ornamental (headpieces, initials, etc.). and illustrative decoration on the macrostructure level. By systematization of already studied and new material the thesis represents an attempt to build an overview for the type models in the decoration of the evangeliary manuscripts - 14 Four Gospels and 12 Lectionaries from the collection of the Center for Slavo-Byzantine Studies "Prof. Ivan Duichev", which to present the trends and characteristics of the macrostructure of the ornamental and illustrative decoration in the studied manuscripts.
