Резюме: The aim of the survey is to explore some important narratives of violent death in ancient Greek context which are not to be understood literally as related to real historical practices. The dissertation is divided into two main chapters. The first one considers the problem of the "unreal" death of a young man or a woman which leads to the establishment of a practice unknown before or to some change in the local homonymy. The great amount of ancient texts describing such cases does not correspond to the lack of archeological evidences concerning so called "ritual killings". The research explains such narratives as a relict of old initiatory practices which describe the social change of a young person through the metaphor of that persons death. The second part of the dissertation is dedicated to the myths of metamorphosis of a human being into a natural phenomenon. The transformation is seen in an alternative couple with death as far as the metamorphosis replaces it. According to that point of view it appears that the permanent transformation is a way of leaving life without suffering death. The paradox finds its explanation in the cult practices related to the initiatory rites explored in the first chapter of the thesis.
