The study is a complete and unabridged translation (for the very first time into Bulgarian language) along with a scientific commentary and an analysis of literary evidence found in Anaplous Bospori by Dionysius of Byzantium dated back to 2nd-3rd century AD. It is the only ancient work of such a kind which is preserved until our time. The fragments translated in Latin by Petrus Gyllius in the 16th century are included too along with the scholia dated back to 10th century. The data in this literary work are not considered so far in respect of Thracian history as far as the history of European Southeast, where the apoikia of Byzantion and the navigation through the strait of Bosporus played significant role in political, economical and cultural history of the ancient world. Sailing Upstream of the [Thracian] Bosporus, which is the most probably translation of the title, seems to be a primary source about the sea history of that region. Most of the data contained in it allow us to define more accurately a number of arguable questions about localization of the topoi, the approaches for overcoming of the counter current of Bosporus, the importance of local Thracians population for navigation, sea-fishing, and coastal piracy, foundation of Byzantion etc. For this purpose the study is divided into six chapters which are the translation of the Ancient Greek text of Dionysius of Byzantium, realia mentioned in it, text-critical analysis of this literary source and an attempt for a historical-geographic synthesis of the information available.
