The main objective of the thesis is to make a systematization of the position of the Southeast Europe in the US post-Cold War geopolitical doctrines. The doctrines are chosen to represent the three main political ideologies: liberalism (Zbigniew Brzezinski), conservatism (Samuel Huntington) and the "realpolitik" (Henry Kissinger). The goals are following: to generalize the ideas of these three influential scientists and theirs recommendations towards the region of Southeast Europe. Other goals are evaluation of the importance of the region and prognosis about the future of the region. The thesis contains two main chapters. The first one is examining and analyses of the position of the South East Europe in the teachings of the Brzezinski, Huntington and Kissinger. The second main is a study of the US strategies and political actions towards that region: the US policy for the dealing with the conflicts in Yugoslavia and Kosovo. The chapter also contains short study of the US policy toward three post-communist countries: Bulgaria, Romania and Albania. The conclusion confirms the hypothesis that liberal doctrine of Z. Brzezinski has the main influence upon the post-Cold War foreign policy towards Southeast Europe. Another essential conclusions are that the region is not of the most important for the USA; the only country with crucial importance for the United States is Turkey, which country will be an American ally in the future.
