Резюме: The dissertation defends the thesis that the formation of attitude towards reading in children depends on the environment in which they have been developing before the birth. This circumstance should be used for widening the age profiling of child’s book and for development of the media functions of the book in early child pedagogy. The maximum early phase for formation of reading abilities is proven – research of the abilities for informational-sensoric influence through reading aloud immediately after birth and even during pregnancy is performed. The functional energetics of reading is defined as intellectual prerequisite for formation of a future active reader through scientific methods. Theoretical and empirical grounds are discovered which prove that reading aloud by an outside subject affects important zones responsible for reading part of the cognitive apparatus of the individual. Attitudes and effects towards early formation of readers among pregnant women and parents of children up to three years of age from Bulgaria have been analyzed through a three-phase author’s empirical study. The spectrum of media functionalities of the book if predefined in the context of prenatal and children pedagogy. A content and functional typology is created of books appropriate for reading in the prenatal period. The scientific-practical contribution of the work is the suggested new profile for book publishing – the so called books for unborn readers.
