The stone battle axes are one of the most characteristic and significant artifacts from Bronze Age Bulgaria. Their low level of exploration put more questions then answers. The main goals of dissertations are: 1. To create typological system for stone battle axes from Bulgaria. To put accurate chronological date of each type according to the geographic and cultural specifics. To clarify the function and character of use of the stone shaft-hole axes from the Bronze Age Bulgaria. The analysis of the material shows that, the highest level of chronological distribution and typological diversity of the axes is during the Early and Middle Bronze Age. It is very important to remark that, the stone shaft-hole axes cannot be divided into a few complexes, no matter their cultural or chronological separation. The explored artifacts show unity in development and belonging to a complex spread to a vast territory of South -East Europe and the Mediterranean during the Bronze Age. The second part of dissertation considers the stone axes through a chaine operatoire method. The rock raw materials of the stone axes and their possible origin are determined. It is considered that the manufacture and distribution of the axes were important part of Bronze Age economy, as wares, as well as tools. It is made an assumption about the important role of the stone axes in the daily life of the ancient people - as tools that change the environment; as weapons to lead a war; as symbols that provoke respect.
