Objects of investigation in the dissertation are Bronze Age copper and copper alloy finds from Bulgaria. The artefacts are determined typologically and culturally using typological analysis and analysis of the geographical distribution of the finds. The chemical composition of the articles is determined using inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP-AES). The results of the ICP-AES analysis are examined for the presence of correlations between measured chemical elements. Analytical data are classified by hierarchic cluster analysis. The production technology of the archaeological metal finds has been identified using metallographic methods. The application of different analytical techniques for examining chemical composition and microstructure of the artefacts gave the opportunity for comparing and filling out the results. The executed metalworking techniques show the ancient masters knowledge of the mechanical and forming properties of metals. |
