The theme of the dissertation is "the labor traditions of the immigrants from the Bulgarian lands in Southern Bessarabia". From the time of their mass resettlement in the early 19th century to the mid-twentieth century. The study is about "traditions" inherited from the time before the resettlement. So also for traditions that are formed over the chronological range of the dissertation. In general about labor practices and customs before the start of intensive economic and social modernization after the Second World War. The object of the survey is "the migrants from the Bulgarian lands" - "gagauz’s and Bulgarians". The emphasis is on the Gagaes. The study is interdisciplinary or "historico-ethnographic" in its nature. The sources and literature used included materials from field studies in villages in the Republic of Moldova (14 interviews with informants born after 1926). Archival material from two Moldovan archives and hundreds of publications (books and articles) mostly in Russian and Bulgarian and less in Romanian and other languages. The structure of the dissertation as a whole has two main parts, devoted respectively to the historical and ethnographic aspects of the subject, as well as to the traditional introduction, conclusion, bibliography and application maps. Achieved the aim of work is a general study of labor traditions and material culture of the Trans-Danubian immigrants until the middle of the 20th century. |
