The dissertation focuses on the analysis of the written language code switching between Bulgarian and English from a sociolinguistic point of view. No such profound exploitation of the topic has been done in Bulgaria so far. Most of the researches concentrate primarily on the spoken language or are busy "stigmatizing" the English loans, which, according to them, "spoil" our language. In other words, all the previous work on the subject matter is either of prescriptive or ideological character. The authors attempt is to make an objective analysis of the ongoing processes without taking any ideological stand; only at the end, she expresses her own opinion on the possible future evolution of the present linguistic situation in Bulgaria. Another strength of the research is the thorough grammatical analysis of the very process of code-switching and code-mixing, for the purpose of which the author has chosen to apply the best possible so far Matrix Language Frame Model and its modification 2000 - the 4-M model. The analysis of the modes and means of morphological and integration of the English elements into the Bulgarian discourse is carried out in a diligent and meticulous way. In the last chapter, the author makes socio- and partially psycholinguistic analysis of the bilingual phenomenon she examines. She tackles very interesting issues such as the introduction of English as in its function as a corporate and scientific language into the Bulgarian professional spheres, as well as in its role of a social attribute in the so-called "elite spheres"
