The tension between Bulgarian religious national song and religion raises important questions. Is a song with a sacred text only a vehicle for our national folklore and divine praise for our childrenn, or an independent secular spiritually entity as well? Can one sing a sacred song, recognizing the important aesthetic relationship between music and text, without engaging in a religious exercise? These questions remain very important for our public schools. In the public school context, however, music education, particularly performance-based education, is a necessary component of the public school curriculum, and Bulgarian religious national song is an integral part of a complete and historically accurate music education. Removal of religious national folklore songs from the performance repertoire would deprive our children of a complete educational experience by presenting an erroneous view of the our national folklore music tradition and our religion. One of the most common problems we have in that the teacher do not many things about it. Bulgarian religious national song given the opportunity our children to express himself through music even as the teacher is attempting to impress him with the essential message of oure religious national folk songs. Why is so important teaching our children by Bulgarian religious national song? Our education must be concerned with the whole person, that is, emotions as well as intellect. Bulgarian religious national song is important to our education because of its appeal to the whole person. In its appeal it begins with the emotions or the moods and extends to the whole spirit of man.
