An example realization of grid is the European Grid Infrastructure (EGI). In the EGI participated over 70 scientific institutions and organizations. The European Grid Infrastructure is the basic grid infrastructure which currently is used for scientific researches. Characteristics of a business process management systems based on service-oriented architecture are functionality for definition, execution, monitoring and optimization of business processes, through support of standards for Web services. At the moment EGI does not provide mechanisms for business process management in the context of the service-oriented architecture. A framework for business process management, based on service-oriented architecture for EGI will benefit development of flexible grid application and will allow grid users to define and execute their processes in grid without need of any IT knowledge. The investigations presented in the dissertation are directed to description of an architectural model of a framework for business process management for the EGI in the context of the service-oriented architecture. The questions for business-process definition, design and execution in the EGI are discussed. More specific questions like security and business process performance are not the subject of the current research. In the result of the investigation a model of a framework for business process management in the EGI and its component modules: service registry module, development module and runtime environment module are described. Use cases, roles and supplementary requirements are defined.
