For the first time in Bulgaria, the Ph.D. thesis "Multimedia Technology in Music Education" is considering ways to incorporate the computer technologies in the pedagogical practice and in music education in particular. The first part of the thesis is presenting a study of the regulatory and social preconditions for this process. The experimental part is displaying a developed multimedia educational tool and a study of students' behavior when studying by this tool. A new interactive teaching method, "Concert in class", using digital technology was developed and has received positive feedback. A project for training music teachers how to use computer software in order to improve their efficiency is a major part of the thesis. The included study is revealing their attitude towards WEB-based teaching materials and the common problems they meet when working with it. The dissertation explores the most recent trends in the field of education and its purpose is to outline the ways for incorporating the new digital approach in the Bulgarian educational system by training the teaching staff for this.
