A major environmental problem is the pollution of surface and subsurface water as a result of the human activities. Uranium mining is one of the activities influence the water ecosystems and the human health. In Bulgaria, uranium mining and the processing of the ore ceased in 1990. The liquidation of the mines is released by stages after 1998. The control of the radiological state of the impacted environment doesnt include the biological monitoring for the assessment of the uranium mining impact. There is a lack of data about the uranium mining impact on the dry rivers. There are not many researches about the accumulation of heavy metals and radionuclides in the macrozoobenthos. The aim of the dissertation is to assess the ecological state of Luda River and Senocoska River, located in the vicinity of the uranium mining, in order to find the pollution from the mine Senokos. |
