Main motivational factors determining the choice of the theme of the work can be separated into several perspectives: The current need of knowing the cultural specificities in the process of communicating with representatives of different cultures. Specific "standing" of intercultural competence in Bulgarian educational discourse. The absence of theoretical studies on intercultural competence in Russian language teaching at high school level of education in Bulgaria. Background function of Russian culture in Russian language teaching in Bulgarian secondary school. These motivational factors trigger a series of questions, some of which we can formulate as follows: How does intercultural competence enter into the methodology of Russian language teaching in Bulgarian school? What is meant by intercultural competence? What are the existing cross-cultural patterns in the theoretical area of foreign language teaching? To what extend are these models universally applicable to the type of language teaching? In an attempt to answer these questions (and also other questions), sharing the idea of the necessity of conceptual rethinking of a number of theoretical and practical positions in language teaching and more specifically in Russian language and culture teaching, this work provides a project for intercultural competence training of students studying Russian at high school level of education, based on linguo-didactic concepts.
