The main objective of this PhD thesis is to investigate the principles and practices for transformation of organizations towards process-oriented management in order to increase the organizational effectiveness. It becomes important to provide and operational definition of the concept of business process improvement in order to give guidelines for executive managers what practices should be followed in order to achieve continuous process improvement. Business process improvement is a holistic approach that encompasses existing disciplines. This PhD thesis focuses on the following research issues: to study and assess the existing concepts regarding process-oriented management and business process improvement; - to develop a theoretical model that operationalizes the business process improvement construct by defining key aspects (factors); -to propose an instrument for validation of the developed model; -to investigate what practices Bulgarian organizations follow regarding business process improvement; -to analyse and discover the relationships between the key aspects of the business process improvement construct. |
