The intriguing and veiled message of the Book of Ecclesiastes finds its unpuzzling through the lifes dilemma of Koheleht: wise or foolish. The deep reflection upon the apparent paradox - the ultimate earthly fate of the wise is identical to that of the foolish one - urge the preacher-king to question whether it was worth to be very wise. Upon reaching the limits of his creative achievements and human abilities, the author realizes that all positive activities, labor and art, genius success and even superior wisdom do not offer any personal profit in the endeavor to overcome the inevitable and unpredictable death. Central to the books revelation that God has put in the human heart a sense of eternity and that everything He will do will last forever, allows a solution to the death problem by God Himself. The fact that God will seek what was pursuited - the principle of life - suggests that as the Greator and absolute Sovereign, He can bring back the lost life. The revelation of a future judgment on the righteous and the wicked directs toward the ultimate Gods work of separation when the righteous will receive a reward and the wicked - punishment. The ultimate profit of human labor that was searched for through the whole book seems to find its answer in the final part of the book. Only Gods judgment and the inexplicable creative work of God can deliver real profit for the people - that "new thing" that can reasonably be called eternal life. It is this insight for a new life that solves Koheleths life dilemas - wise and foolish. In this perspective and expectation of a new future life beyond the death, the reader can choose to love life under the sun, to live festively ans wisely, developing good character consistent with the will of God.
