The aim of the dissertation is the analysis of the main morpholexical aspects of the Greek gay argot Kaliardà. Kaliardà was called the secret language of the passive homosexual men in the biggest Greek cities: Athens, Thessaloniki etc, as it was registered by Ilias Petropoulos, Greek philologist and ethnologist, around and after the middle of XX century. This homosexual group was a real social group, part of the underworld. Κaliardà reaches out to us in the form of a dictionary, i.e. a list of words, which amounts to at least 3000 dictionary units. The study is focused only on the words from the open lexical classes - nouns, adjectives and verbs. In the dissertation about 2400 lexemes and phrasemes are analyzed – 1800 names, 200 adjectives and 400 verbs. Main objects of the research are: a) The characteristics of kaliardà vocabulary in view of the full-meaning lexical bases, by which non-derived and derived words are formed. b) The grammatical characteristics of Kaliardà vocabulary in view of some basic grammatical categories such as gender and number of the names and conjugation and voice of the verbs. c) The morpholexical characteristics of Kaliardà vocabulary with emphasis on the word-formation manners, used for the formation of own (Kaliarda-specific) vocabulary through internal word formation. Object of the dissertation are also some semantic characteristics of Kaliardà vocabulary, arising out of their morphological characteristics.
