The goal of the study is to determine, using the scientific method, the extent to which models for analysis of fundamental information is useful for BSE investors trying to achieve maximum return. The goal of the study is achieved by the completion of the following research tasks: 1. review of the theory behind the models for fundamental analysis of the value of (shares) of publicly traded companies, the nature of fundamental analysis, its advantages and disadvantages; review of the empirical research on different models for analysis of fundamental information; exploratory analysis of BSE and the factors that have influenced stock returns; selection and specification of three models for analysis of fundamental information and their empirical testing with data from BSE. The main results of the study are the following: 1. during the 2000-2008 period the stock returns in BSE have been heavily influenced by political and macroeconomics factors; 2. during the 2007-2013 period the empirical data rejects the hypothesis that the fundamental analysis is useful for investing in BSE; 3. for the 2007-2013 period the application of a more complex model and more information leads to better results and the results of the application of the more complex model improve during the last three years of the period; 4. in years 2011 and 2013 the abnormal return from investing on the basis of the most complex of the specified models is both economically and statistically significant. |
