The subject of the dissertation is the analysis of the functions of the World trade Organization (WTO). The functions of the WTO subject to reserch i the order they are set up in the constitution of the organization - The Marrakesh Agreement establishing the World Trade Organization, in order to prove the thesis that executing its functions WTO fulfills its aims, set in its constitution for raising the standards of living, protection of the environment and development of strong and predictable international trade system, contributing for unprecedented global economic growth. The dissertation reveals the way the WTO structure and decision making influence the implementation of its functions and the effectiveness of its work. Thus the rules and procedures for accepting members are analyzed as well as the decision making in the WTO as a mean for execution of its functions is revealed and analyzed. Through the analysis of the WTO activities for fulfilling each of its functions (implementation, administration and operation and further the objectivities of the Agreement, establishing the WTO and the Multilateral Trade Agreements; achieving the objectives of the international trade system; providing a forum for negotiations; solving trade disputes between the members; administration of Trade Policy Review Mechanism; coordination and coherence with International Monetary Fund and the World Bank) it is proved that each function has its significance in the process of building and functioning of a rule based international trade system where the functions complete and support each other
