The dissertation is in a volume of 186 pages. It contains an introduction, three chapters, conclusions and recommendations, contributions and literature. Includes 66 figures and 31 tables. The bibliography includes 101 literature references, of which 20 in Cyrillic, 81 in Latin and 74 of them are electronic (web pages) . The issue for the relationship between the surgery and speech of children with congenital cleft lip and / or palate is often discussed. It has been shown that the earlier surgical intervention is more favorable for the development of correct speech and language, but still the effect of different surgical techniques on the speech is discussed. This is the first dissertation in Bulgaria on the concrete topic. There are other, addresses the issue of speech in individuals with congenital cleft lip and / or palate, but not those whose object is the speech of individuals with congenital cleft palate only - soft or soft and hard. The attention is focused on the comparison of the effect on speech, which have two of many surgical techniques applied for closing the cleft palate - Sommerlad technique and Wardill-Kilner technique. This research interest is combined with another, directly connected with the speech pathology and therapy - accomplishing of a thorough, comprehensive study of the speech pathology characteristics in children with this malformation, commensurating of different types of speech deficits between them, comparing the speech and language impairment in order of their occurrence
