The emergence of dangerous tsunami waves in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Black Sea region is a relatively rare phenomenon that can not be predicted, and therefore its experimental research is difficult. The main purpose of this research is to assess the tsunamigenic potential of seismic sources in the Eastern Mediterranean. In order to achieve the main goal, the following tasks are fulfilled: 1) Data collection for topography and bathymetry in the research area, with detailed resolution; 2) Study of seismic sources and possible tsunamigenic zones, as well as determination of their characteristics; 3) Evaluation of the propagation field of the resulting tsunami waves due to an earthquake; 4) Analysis of the maximum and minimum heights of the spreading tsunami; 5) Obtaining the tsunami wave travel times to different points of the shoreline; 6) Calculation of synthetic mareograms at certain points near the settlements to estimate the amplitude of the tsunami for a certain period of time; 7) Estimation of the vertical water column on land. In the study, the numerical model UBO-TSUFD was implemented to simulate the generation, propagation and impact on coastal areas of tsunami waves. A comparison between model results and available observation data is made. An evaluation of the tsunamigenic potential of 13 seismic zones in which 24 seismic sources in the Eastern Mediterranean area is made. The impact of tsunami waves on the northeastern coast of Bulgaria is explored and three
