The dissertation is devoted to terracotta - an object form that has become extremely popular as a means of visualizing the anthropomorphic image of the archaic period throughout the Mediterranean. The time range is limited in the period VI - I c. BC, and the basis of the study is the monuments found on the territory of modern Bulgaria. The dissertation is based on 477 whole or fragmented figures, of which a large part first came into scientific circulation, and others (already published) were commented in detail. The main objectives of the study include terracotta as a set of production center / center testimonials and business contacts; evidence of dating of the figures and complexes; terracotta as a source of the level of community development and consumer status. The different approach to seeking answers to these questions involves structuring the dissertation in four main parts: I. Raw materials and production techniques. Technological style and the problem of local corroplast production; II. Iconographic and stylistic features of terracotta figures from the territory of modern Bulgaria; III. Contextual analysis of terracotta figures from the territory of modern Bulgaria; and IV. Catalog. |
