The dissertation is dedicated to the studying of the settlement life in the Middle Struma Valley during the Roman period. Тhe term settlement life is to be understood as the subject of the study, which will include the historical development, the administrative structure, the planning and the architecture of different types of settlements (town, villages, fortresses, sanctuaries, etc.), connected in an unified settlement system. The territorial scope of this study covers the valley of the Middle Struma, also known as the Sandaski-Petrich basin. The chronological frameworks of the dissertation cover the period from the middle of the 2nd century B.C. until the end of the 4th century A.D. The main objective of the study is to reconstruct, as far as possible, the settlement life in the Middle Struma valley during the Roman period using historical, epigraphic and archaeological evidence. The dissertation consists of three parts: I. Text, II. Catalog and III. Applications. The text consists of: introduction, three chapters, a conclusion and a list of abbreviations and quoted literature (327 pages). The catalog includes: introduction, settlement and epigraphic catalog (152 pages). The applications contain: introduction, four tables, statistical data, 21 maps and 56 images (64 pages). The total volume of the dissertation is 543 pages.
