The subject of research in the thesis work is the online media in Bulgaria. The subject of the study is the language of online media. The beginning of the work presents the features of online media that set them apart from other mass media. The development of the concept of genre is monitored, with special attention paid to genres that have a leading role in online media. Attention is drawn to manipulative strategies in two significant media campaigns – the 2017 parliamentary elections and the debate over the ratification of the Istanbul Convention. Some lexical and grammatical features of the texts in the online media are presented. A comparative review of news and sites has been made.The final part of the thesis work looks at the ways in which fake news is most often spread. Examples of fake news are presented and an attempt is made to analyze the language used by the people who create the fake news. In conclusion, it is noted that the linguistic expressions used by online journalists are no different from those used by their colleagues in other media. Both newspapers and information sites can be divided into popular and serious media. One of the significant changes that was noted in the course of the study is related to genres in online media. Two genres emerge that clearly dominate information sites – news and commentary. |
