The dissertation focuses on the phenomenon of "social entrepreneurship" - a concept that proposes today’s social problems to be solved through business approaches. The dissertation traces and analyzes the processes of local contextualization and socialization of the concept; what (new) meanings acquire concepts such as labor, consumption, citizenship in the context of social entrepreneurship; how the integration of this model affects the public understanding of the social role of business, the functions of the state and the civil sector etc. These processes are traced in two contexts - Bulgaria and Brazil. Subject of research are individual and collective forms and practices of social entrepreneurship: NGOs, cooperatives, business organizations, fairs and exhibitions for social enterprises, online platforms and e-stores. Bazaars and other similar events are analyzed not only as places and events for saling their production, but also as a tool for promoting social causes and attracting supporters. Labor and work are analyzed as means of (re-)integration in society, while social entrepreneurship is also seen as a means of changing production and consumer practices in a particular economic sector in order to reform it.
