Резюме: The dissertation study analyzes the process of certification in business (as a social process) and in particular, its social meaning, the transfer of logic and implications for companies. The main thesis is that quality management in an organizational aspect can be thought of as a social process of creating and maintaining a balance between personal, subjective aspirations and organizational (business) goals. The dissertation study contributes to the scientific debate with empirically verified sociological reflexion which (1) explicate the motivation for certification of the Bulgarian companies, (2) expresses the types of acceptance of the ISO 9001 standard and (3) problematic the implicit relevance of the standardization of social processes as it is business management. In the context of "institutional transfer", the author is referring to the certification according to international management standards (and in particular ISO 9001). Empirically, the problem is analyzed through the example of the implementation and certification of the ISO 9001 quality standard of the Bulgarian business organizations. Following the neoinstitutional tradition of sociology and taking into account the social constructivism of the management process, the author introduces the term "domestication" in order to explicate specific informal management practices that allow certification to be performed effectively without all ISO 9001 regulations being accepted and followed according to their original purpose.
